Put your Ubuntu 10.10 CD in drive and restart your system. It will open with welcome box. In that you have to press Install Ubuntu button
You will see a new box call preparing to install Ubuntu box. Just press Forward button.
Now you will see a new box in that you have to select “Install along side other operating system”
Press Forward button.
You will see a new box of “Allocate drive space”: in that you will see a RED COLLUR “advanced partitioning tool” just press it.
Now you will see Allocate drive space.
Now you can see

(Note: - this information is my system hard drive information so in you system your hard drive information you will see)
So I selected /dev/sda 4 for Ubuntu 10.10.
If you just press on /dev/sda4 you will see three button enabled 1. Change 2.Delete 3. Revert
Just to to second button that is deleting after Delete you will see free space
Now just click on free space you will see one box Add
Press add button now it will open a box called Create Partition
Now you have to go Mount point box you will see
/, /boot, /home, /tmp, /usr, /var, /srv, /opt, /usr/local.
First you will go to /boot. Now you have to go “new Partition size in megabytes(1000000bytes);” and now give 4000 ( I have lot of space in my hard disk that way I given 4000 so you have to give as per Ubuntu manual instructions) and press ok button
Now again you go to free space and press /home give 4000 and press OK like that you have to give all partitions. After all partitions allocated is over now you have to give /swap partition.
The size of /swap partitions is 2 times of your Ram (Exp:- RAM is 1 GB you have to give 2GB (2000) as /swap partitions
And finally / (ROOT) reaming available free space you have to give for / (ROOT) partition.
And press “Install Now” button
You will see a box “do you want to return to this partitions menu
Just press “Continue button”
After that you have to
Set Time and press forward button
Key board lay out “USA” press Forward button
Type you name --> fill all filled and press Forward button
After installation is over restart the system
After Installation you will see a box in booting time in that you have to choose which operating system you have to run.
Booting box looks like this

In this way I have successfully installed windows7 and Ubuntu 10.10 on HP system in my office. Do the same thing and enjoy.

Installing IIS 7 on Windows Vista and Windows 7
Before You Begin
Ensure that you have installed one of the editions of Windows Vista or Windows 7 on which IIS 7 is supported before you proceed. Not all IIS features are supported on all editions of Windows Vista and Windows 7. Home Basic and Starter editions include only limited basic features of IIS. To see a list of which features are supported on the edition of Windows you are using, see one of the following:- Available Role Services in IIS 7.0 (Windows Vista)
- Available Web Server (IIS) Role Services in IIS 7.5 (Windows 7)
Note that you can run runas /user:administrator cmd.exe so that every application you run from that command line will be elevated, eliminating the need to use the runas syntax from that command line.
If you are logged on to an account other than the built-in local administrator account, you may see the following security alert dialog box.

Install IIS 7
1. To open the Windows Features dialog box, click Start, and then click Control Panel.

2. In the Control Panel, click Programs.

3. Click Turn Windows features on or off.

4. You may receive the Windows Security warning. Click Allow to continue. The Windows Features dialog box is displayed.

5. Expand Internet Information Services. Additional categories of IIS features are displayed. Select Internet Information Services to choose the default features for installation.

9. When the installation completes, the Windows Features dialog box closes, and the Control Panel is displayed.

10. IIS 7 is now installed with a default configuration on Windows Vista or Windows 7. To confirm that the installation succeeded, type the following URL into your browser, http://localhost.

11. Next, you can use Internet Information Services Manager to manage and configure IIS. To open IIS Manager, click Start, type inetmgr in the Search Programs and Files box, and then press ENTER.

if you have 10/100 mbps lan card if you want to change data transfer rate from 10 to 100mbps or vice versa just do the following .
1) right click my network places
2) select the properties
3) right click the local lan connection and select the properties
4) opening the local area connection properties in the general tab there is configure option.
5) you get the fast ethernet adapter properties
6) in the advanced option there is a value field
7) default value is auto_config but you can change it to

Lock Computer
If you are tired of pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del and then selecting Lock Computer to lock the computer... here is a small tip.. to create a shortcut for this..
1) Right-Click on the Desktop.
2) New -> Shortcut.
3) Paste the following in the Text Box provided to type the location of the item -> %windir%\system32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation
4) Give a suitable name for the shortcut in the next screen and complete the shortcut.
when you double click on that shortcut.. your computer will be locked....

Changing Windows XP Login Screen Text Entries
So, You hv to edit following 2 files:
LogonUI.exe
Winlogon.exe
LogonUI.exe file contains most of the Text entries of the login screen and Winlogon.exe file contains the text, which is displayed when u login/logout the windows, like Windows is shutting down..., etc.
So first we'll edit LogonUI.exe file:
1.) Open %windir%\System32\LogonUI.exe file in Resource Hacker and navigate to String Table section.
2.) Here u'll find sub-directories, 1,2,3,4,7, in which only first 3 directories 1,2,3 r of our use.
3.) Following r the locations of some interesting Text entries, which u will like to change:
Type your password : String Table -> 1 -> 1033 -> 6
Please type your password again. \nBe sure to use the correct uppercase and lowercase letters. : String Table -> 1 -> 1033 -> 8
You can click the \"?\" button to see your password hint.\n\nPlease type your password again. \nBe sure to use the correct uppercase and lowercase letters. : String Table -> 1 -> 1033 -> 9
Did you forget your password? : String Table -> 1 -> 1033 -> 10
Turn off computer : String Table -> 1 -> 1033 -> 11 & 12

Use Command line or righ click and properties but disk must be in NTFS Format and other thing if u incrypt something then u can decrypt from any other user its security but also can be problem in case of windows loss or if u take file some where.

Removal procedure for orkut, firefox, youtube virus
when u r system effected, it show following messages when u open
firfox-I DNT HATE MOZILLA BUT USE IE OR ELSE...
orkut- Orkut is banned you fool, The administrators didnt write this program guess who did?? MUHAHAHA!!
To remove this do the following things
1.goto taskmanager-->processes find svchost.exe under your username (warning not a svchost.exe under system as username) end or kill these processes by pressing endprocess
2.now goto your "c" drive(where you installed your windows) then type "c:\heap41a" in address bar...(or delete through command prompt)
3. delete all the contents of the "c:\heap41a" folder
4.now open register editor by running "regedit" in run command menu( start-->run )
5.goto "edit" then "find" search for "heap41a" delete that key like "C:\heap41a\svchost.exe C:\heap(some number)\std.txt"
6.now close register editor
7. restart pc
Ultimate Solution for this problem
Even i had the same problem. just follow the following steps, the
worm will be deleted forever:

2.Look for svchost.exe under the image name. There will be many but
look for the ones which have your username under the username
3.Press DEL to kill these files. It will give you a warning, Press
Yes
4.Repeat for more svchost.exe files with your username and repeat. Do
not kill svchost.exe with system, local service or network service!
5.Now open My Computer
6.In the address bar, type "C:\heap41a" and press enter
7.Delete all the files here
8.Now go to start -> Run and type "Regedit"
9.Go to the menu EDIT --> FIND
10.Type "heap41a" here and press enter
11.You will get something like this "[winlogon]
C:\heap41a\svchost.exe
C:\heap(some number)\std.txt"
12.Press DEL. It will ask "Are you sure you wanna delete this value",
click "Yes"
13.Now close the registry editor
BANG! Virus is Gone!
Note: Please format all your pen drives because the virus is in that
hidden in an microsoft.exe autorun.inf which you might not find. Else
you might have to repeat all this everytime!

2. Now write .LOG as the first line in the file, then press enter. Now save the file and close it.
3.Open the notepad file now and you will find that the current date and time has been appended(put) at the end and the cursor is in the next line.
4. Type your notes and then save and close the file.
5. Each time you open the file, Notepad repeats the process,that is it appends the date and time to the end of the file and places the cursor below it.
This way you can keep track of all your entries,you can easily monitor which article you wrote when.This can work very much like a personal diary.Try it out and let me know how you find it?

There We all having a big problem that WinXP take so long time to shutting down here is a tip for it to shutting down WinXP faster
When a user shuts down Windows XP, first the system has to kill all services currently running. Every once in a while the service does not shut down instantly and windows gives it a change to shut down on its own before it kills it. This amount of time that windows waits is stored in the system registry. If you modify this setting, then windows will kill the service earlier. To modify the setting, follow the directions below:
Start n then click on RUN then write there "Regedit".
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control.
Click on the "Control" Folder.
Select "WaitToKillServiceTimeout"
Right click on it and select Modify.
Set it a value lower than 2000 (Mine is set to 0).
apply it and enjoy the fun candid...

Password protected folders with out SOFTWARE
If you have a log in password for your account, this can be used to protect folders from other users. Your hard drive must be formatted using NTFS (which it probably is unless you're dual booting with another operating system). Here's what to do...
Right-click the folder that you want to make private and choose "Properties"
(or Alt+Double-click). Go to the "Sharing" tab and check the "Make this folder private" box.
Click Apply . If you do not have a password on your account, a box will pop up asking if you want to assign a password. This must be done if you want to make the folder private, so click Yes . You will need to use your password to log on to your computer from then on.
Type in a password then confirm it. Click the "Create Password" button then close the Password window.
Click OK in the Properties dialog box.
Now anyone else logged on to your computer can't access that file without knowing your password.

Hide Files/folder Without Any Software
HIDE FILES/FOLDER IN A SUCURE MANNER WIHOUT ANY SOFTWARE
HIDING STEPS -
1. Right click on the file/folder that u want to hide then Send to ->New
Compressed (zipped) Folder
2.Change the file extention from *.zip to anything or nothing (like xzy.zip to xyz/xyz.dll/xyz.pdf/xyz.doc/etc)
TIP: Change to *.dll for safest hiding.
note: IF UR SYSTEM IS NOT SHOWING FILE EXTENTION THEN OPEN MY COMPUTER GO TO ->TOOLS ->FOLDER OPTIONS->VIEW->uncheck HIDE EXTENTIONS OF KNOWN FILE TYPES
4.Change the file name if u want to but make shure u remember it else it wont be easy to search it out when unhiding .
5. Now paste the file in \WINDOWS\system32 folder (very important step).

3. Now save this text file as loc.bat or any other file with an extension ".bat"
4. Create another notepad file and type ren LEARNER.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} LEARNER
5. Save this as key.bat or any other file with an extension ".bat"
6. Now there are two batch files. Double click loc.bat and your folder will change into Control Panel and its contents cannot be viewed
7. To open the folder double click key.bat and you get back your original folder .
8. For more safety keep the key.bat in another location .Only for unlocking copy paste to the original location and double click.

Remove the Recycle Bin from the Desktop
If you don't use the Recycle Bin to store deleted files , you can get rid of its desktop icon all together.
Run Regedit and go to:

Click on the "Recycle Bin" string in the right hand pane. Hit Del, click OK
